Chairman's Message....

“Dear Fellow Branch Members,

Firstly, I would like to thank our Secretary for the work that he has done on our behalf during the lockdown.  Thanks to him we now have a Branch email address, Web Site and now a monthly newsletter.

Secondly, I am sure that all of us have in someway been touched by COVID 19 either by the loss of someone or by the debilitating effects of the lockdown restrictions on our physical and mental health; however, at last there is a small glimmer of light at the end of what has been a very long and dark tunnel.

Thirdly, although the Branch has not been able to meet the Committee has met remotely on one occasion to ensure that the Branch was fulfilling its pastoral care duties and that the finances were in order. The Secretary, Treasurer and myself have met remotely to rationalise the Branch Membership List, the results of which will be disseminated in due course. Moreover,  Scott Campbell has done a sterling job in keeping in touch with our more vulnerable members.  I know that Jimmy Bunting would have been thinking about events and places that we might like to go to when the time is right.

Stay safe and keep in touch.

Regards

Phil.”

Dear Graham,

I would like to thank all members of the branch for the lovely flowers I received this morning after my stay in hospital.

Branch Subs....
A gentle reminder that Annual Branch Subscriptions are overdue, £10 for Life Member/Associate Member and £5 for Friends of the Branch.
Due to the ongoing situation I suggest that subscriptions are paid at the next branch meeting. I would like to avoid many trips to the bank.

Welfare News - Birthdays / Social / family of members / Departed Friends....
The welfare news will be echoed from the Welfare member at the monthly meetings but also updated as and when information arises.

Most of our members, myself included, fall into the Covid 19 vulnerable category as
defined by the Government. As a result, since March, our ability to get out and about
has been severely restricted. Over this period I have managed to either speak to, or e-
mail, many members and it seems most of us are doing pretty well. We’re a resilient
bunch. With the slight easing of some Lockdown restrictions, and some decent
weather for a change, things are looking a bit brighter.

Sadly we learned from Dave Welham that Len Chandler, a long time member of the
Branch passed away on 29 February. He will be missed. Unfortunately his family
were unable to contact us to let us know, and so there was no representation at his
funeral. I have since passed on the Branch’s belated condolences to his daughter.
